NoesisGUI and Silverlight

30 Oct 2017, 03:50

I noticed that when converting an svg to an xaml file, the option Silverlight compatible has to be checked in both Inkscape and ViewerSVG, or face import problems. Nothing wrong with that. Yet. Silverlight is depreciated though and it is only a matter of time before applications stop supporting that. So perhaps it is a good time to start supporting non-silverlight xaml files?

Well, Silverlight compatible is the term used by Inkscape but it doesn't exactly mean that the generated document is compatible only with Silverlight. It is compatible with both WPF (so Noesis) and Silverlight. The reason we support that format is because it is a lot more efficient than the alternative representation. The disadvantage, we cannot animate subelements so yes, we will support both formats in the future. It's been already requested a few times.
